PENNWAY FRIENDSHIP GROUP
EMAIL friendshipgroup@pennway.org
A ministry for older youth and adults who have cognitive
impairments (Friends)

A ministry that builds one-on-one relationships between
mentors and
Friends

A ministry that brings the family of God together to learn
about God’s love

An outreach opportunity for Volunteers to serve...
- as one-on-one Mentors
- as leaders/storytellers
- in music, craft/service project, food/events, room set-up
  and other teams

Group Meetings are designed for one hour and 15 minute
sessions. Sessions start in a large group with sharing and
singing. A Bible lesson is told by a storyteller and usually
includes group participation often in drama format. Mentors
then use One-on-One time to go over materials related
to the Bible lesson. Finally the group gathers again for a
praise and prayer time.

Pennway Friendship Group believes...

Everyone is created in God’s image and is deserving of Love,
Respect and Justice —in society and in our Church

Redemption is a gift from God and is not dependent on a
certain level of intelligence

Our Church is complete only when it includes all of God’s
children and when all people are seen as equals

Pennway Friendship Group’s Purpose

Is to provide Friends with the opportunity to
- learn about God’s love
- grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and with others
- express joy in knowing they are of value to God
   and to God’s people
- make a public profession of their faith
-participate in the church’s life, work and activities
